Belle Isle Family CentreWhat We Do

The purpose of Belle Isle Family Centre
The purpose of the Family Centre is to provide for the well being of families in the area, we welcome all people from the family of South Leeds, offering a wide range of support services, groups and facilities. We aim to work with families and individuals in a holistic way, recognising the links between different problems and issues families and communities face, we continue to develop co-ordinated approaches and solutions to these issues in partnership with different community groups, (e.g. young people, the elderly, parents, & families) as well as continuing to develop work within the community, with voluntary and statutory agencies (e.g. clean up days, consultations, forums).

We welcome everyone, and have created a warm, welcoming, tolerant, atmosphere where people may drop in on weekdays at any time between 9am and 4 pm to meet others, receive support, information, advice, attend or run a group, hold an event, discuss a problem, or to chat over a drink and a wholesome meal. There is currently nowhere else in the area providing a drop in facility, which has a social function and offers families and individuals the range of services and support they need. We have developed partnerships with a wide range of voluntary and statutory agencies to offer regular sessions not available anywhere else in the area.

The Role of the Church
This is not a religious project but a community project. The Parochial Church Council & the Diocesan Advisory Committee, have given their approval and supported the growth and development of the Family centre. The Bishop, Archdeacon and Urban Ministry Officer for the Diocese of Ripon & Leeds have been very supportive and helpful. Currently the Belle Isle Family Centre holds a 15 year licence with the Diocese.
